Why You Need A Freebie On Your Website
In terms of reaching your target market, what better way is there then to give something away for Free? Giving Freebies is a strategy that has been used by Brick and Mortar companies for centuries. And service organizations have also jumped into the mix by using this tried and true strategy. People typically like to try a product or service before making a purchase. Your website may be able to grab someone’s attention however it may not real them in to make that purchase without a freebie.
Studies show that it takes several “touches” or “experiences” before an individual will purchase a product or service. So why should you have a freebie on your site?
Freebies help build your list
When an individual visits your website, they may not always be ready to make a purchase. People tend to shop around before making purchases and if you are a service organization, they may decide that they want to get a feel for who is behind the business prior to making any decisions.
By offering a freebie such as an eBook or e-newsletter with helpful tips, you are giving visitors an incentive to give you their name and email address in exchange for something of value. When visitors see information of value to them, then they will be more inclined to give their contact information. Visitors are then converted to leads which could result in future sales.
Freebies drive traffic to your website
Offering a freebie on your site can build buzz. If your freebie is something that is perceived as valuable, your visitors will want more and continue coming back to your site. They will then most likely share your site with people they know which then results in the best and least expensive type of marketing which is “word of mouth”.
To generate website traffic, you can try offering free education webinars. These types of giveaways usually attract attention and although visitors may not be interested in one particular webinar, they will most likely be curious about what else they can learn from you and return to your site on a regular basis. Other types of freebies include gift certificates, eBooks, and video tips.
Please note that freebies do not always work. It may be that what you are offering is not enticing to your visitors. Do some research and see what topics are hot in your industry and build your freebie around that.
I would love to hear what freebies you have implemented on your site and how they have worked. Please feel free to comment below and let me know.
